Sparkles Not Included
Past week has been very quiet and it's nice to have a rest.
I got contacted by a couple people, but otherwise it's clear who is left is not enough to be interested in a regular weekly group. With the patch shortly approaching and the LFR function included in it, it's best to not hold a weekly raid and be more impromptu.
I've started a long term project on Iron Dragon alumni items. Gallery is done, working on a simple wiki page which only has a brief summary at this point. Going to work on some simple artwork and maybe some short stories, but with holidays coming up that won't be seen for awhile.
Short term I'm planning to spend some more time on Haikera and open guild invitations to a few quiet people with alts. The Guild Recruitment system ingame is very basic with a poor filtering system. It also doesn't leave messages for anyone who has shown interest; if they're not online then nothing happens. I'm not looking to invite all of Azeroth and I'll be quick to drop people I get complaints about.
Currently website is only open via guildlaunch code which is in the guild info box.

This is still hard and quite weird. It's very weird being in another guild. The whole quiet polite making a good impression and rebuilding a reputation while everyone seems to know you is very very weird. Haikera has been given the reigns of Iron Dragon which I will check in on every day to see if there's any needs. I don't invest a lot of time on my shaman, so I am available on Iavasul per usual. I've changed the rank system which I haven't written completely out, but it should help the guild to take care of it's small needs, give people access to tools, and be accessible when I am not. I know there's some alts I haven't caught where their main has left to give them a membership status outside of alt rank. I made a post on the Moon Guard forum that's a version of what I posted in the news last week. Overall everyone posting so far has been very polite and I will make personal thank you's on behalf of the guild. Working on the best time and way to have a small alt or nostalgia raid (old content) I just haven't found specifics of when I'm available because I really haven't settled.

This is hard.
I got ready to do this almost two months ago and it was hard then; I didn't expect a good group of people still willing to push Iron Dragon. And I feel bad that I didn't deliver on those wants. Now it's harder than before as I only deliver disappointment.
It was up and down for awhile with thoughts like 'we can do this we're getting there, just need two things' and those one or two things never came into fruition. I could see over the hill to ride down with a happy small group to progress and catch up with and then one little thing would happen or two little things would happen.
Now I'm one of the things that is happening. There's no way around the fact I am unhappy. If I had to count the times that doubt has overwhelmed and I've supressed it, it's simply too many times. I have too many doubts to keep ignoring them. The reasons behind why get repeated over and over and it doesn't make me feel much better.
I'm still here to take care of the little wants for everyone, but the big wants I can't provide.
My work rest of this week is to clean up the forum some more, drop the raiding stuff out, and look for nice socials.

Updated Loot/Attendance sheets with new members.
We have three initates currently with another that'll join us today.
This is basically everything we will have available - 11 members
Artwork Gallery is fully uploaded now. There are some logo pieces to upload that I'll make a new gallery for.
I continue to bump and look for people to join us. The Sunday group is helping a tib with finding people outside of our circle for their raid capabilities and making new friends which the guild needs to grow off of. It's not the best tactic, but from what everyone continues to tell me Moon Guard is a dry well, so any tactic is something I suppose.
At this point I'm taking it week by week. The patch is on the horizon and seems to be the determining factor for some people. Despite what was a really terrible week Tuesday and Wednesday the group muscled through and got down Heroic Staghelm. Although not ideal it is still progress. It's safe to say that no one else will step up as an officer for the time, so Dora and I will continue to share the workload. I'll have to take over some of the raid leading. The goal this week is to repeat last... More

Loot sheet at this time is easy to keep up with now that the base of gear is established. The activity report on the battle.net and the ilevel are good for keeping references outside of what gear is actually awarded and I have a mod called raid tracker in case I miss anything which I used for attendance before. Kind of nice to make notes in game instead of tabbing around.
Overall this past week has been hard for me on many personal levels so I have keep my profile low officer/leader-wise.
In fact I still have many doubts on surviving and the blunt truth is a couple people in the guild can't make it happen. The guild as a collective has to push and do that with their own strengths, connections, and willingness. An officer core should only provide direction and tools to accomplish those common goals.
It's troubling when the only two people bumping the recruitment thread are myself and someone who has moved on from the guild. I'd like more people to be social and 'bump' the thread. I don't know how to accomplish that outside of cheesy gimick bribe contests which honestly I shouldn't have to. We should want friends to be here in the same guild as much as possible. Our social in-guild... More

Continuing to fill the gallery with artwork. Going to add one every day or so. There's a lot of nice ones.
I honestly dislike the raid loot worksheet greatly. How xees ever put up with it I'm just flabbergasted at the amount of time that thing must have absorbed. I think I'm making a mountain out of a molehill; I will have it updated before raid starting next week while I make a couple different copies and view them to see which seems most useful and which is worthwhile maintaining. I don't think it'll change much from the first draft. Just, ugh, tedious.
I went nuts and bought a ton of Azshara's Veil for 40g a stack when it's normally around 75-85 a stack. Oh well at least it'll last us for flasks.
Social aspects I'm making a birthday list so we can reward members for simply existing.
I found something in guildlaunch called Game Tools which is the whole Useful Links thing I did. I'm working on updating it but the list is very simple and hard to add to in order.
Raid aspects outside of my own work to become a better raider, I'm highly concerned with the time it takes to recover from multiple mistakes. Repetition of the same mistake over and over isn't going to get us far. DPS numbers have to go up. Ugly... More

Have 3 new recruits to try out and see how they impact our lineup. It makes 13 on our roster so rotation will have to happen. It's not ideal, especially for those rotating, but it's needed for progression. The rotation will work out so long as we can deliver a solid above average raiding environment in the near future.
Hope we get a good response to the Group #2. There's no question that an extreme few exceptions of guilds keep up two viable 10s and that's not the idea here. The second is much more casual and kind of a break from the raiding regime.
If it works out it'll be less PuG and more Friends and Family style.
Uploaded a lot of pictures into our gallery from the real life picture thread. Going to try to fill out the guild with some more social needs here on the website.
Only seen by officers but I've updated the attendance spreadsheet and will maintain it so Dora and Vaande can focus on raid performance. It's important they have tools to evaluate performance and that's the job I will fulfill. I'm still working on recreating Xees' loot worksheet. It's a decent amount of detail work that I'm simply not use to yet.

Last week was overall very positive.
Last night in raid I got so frustrated at the end because we were *right* there at Ragnaros and weren't missing anything to take him down besides synergy. So much so that I actually got mad.
20% death (that's before most people were dead, I think it was technically 18% or something) when he flees at 10% is just so close. Considering the difficult the majority of the server has with this fight, we've technically stepped up to being part of the top 10 of the server.
I think the most pivotal part of raiding last week is we really got to see what we're capable of and what we need. It's realized how much we've lost as far as raiding experience and, in a small part, gear. We did get to 20%, but it was only once. We got stuck on intermission the majority of the night and did not make enough changes or communicate to make it work. People have to speak up about what they're struggling with and what they are having too much free time on so we can work together.
Next week will continue our stepping up. I need to improve on minimizing downtime and being prepared with raid needs beforehand. I completely forgot about cauldrons when I had *plenty* of time to... More

I've been working on updating the website roster list.
Deleted all characters under 85 as it's too tedious to keep track of casual alts. Enjoy all the emails from Grimmic.
Working on making some more comprehensive links so we can access information easily. Also filling in our galleries and other parts of the forum board to make it more interactive and a social connection place
After actually trying to do the combat log posting, I realized I never deleted my log and it was pretty big... so nothing can open its awesomeness. Will try to do combat logs tonight; hopefully I won't blow it.
Dora is the new officer, going to spend time with him to get accustom to the tools and admin stuff Guild Launch has. I think he will be more effective in recruiting with his outer guild ties and social networks.
I'm giving this a try for a few weeks and see how it goes.

Last day before the big guild meeting. I'm gathering any notes and last day brain storms I can for it.
Trying to compile a comprehensive list of who were our raiders and have already left in case their name comes up in question.
Even though they weren't part of my Guild Notes post, I'm trying to be prepared with thoughts:
- Raid Comp of what we have if we are to survive. Luckily MMO Champion has a bot to help with this question.
- Do our times, or rules, our goals change slightly?
- What extent are we willing to push for progress and content?
- How do we become more socially connected outside of raid, or do we need to?
What are our goals? How do we merge them and accomplish them together?
On the flipside
- If we admit our raiding days are over, what is the next step for Iron Dragon? What happens to such a namestake on a server?
- Are we concerned about the namesake and the reputation the guild name carries?
- Are we treasuring this as a second home for an alt to just admire from afar and remember days past?
- Are we interested in the rewards and perks it still has from an objectively level and if so how is that managed?
Didn't do any significant guild work over the weekend.
Tidying up the roster list.
